Have you studied drums somewhere before? Chances are you were a little disappointed in what you learnt, or maybe the approach (other wise you probably wouldn't be looking here).

Lessons with me are totally different than anything that you have likely experienced. I take the time to approach the things most teachers can't or aren't willing to.

Most drumset teachers will teach you a new beat every lesson, maybe a new rudiment, but most don't understand coordination as it applies to the drumset, and almost every teacher in the Hamilton/Niagara area completely ignores proper hand technique. 

​

Here are some of the things that you can EXPECT to learn from me:

-Proper hand Technique, including German and French grips, Gladstone and Moeller techniques

-40 PAS rudiments and snare drum solos 

-How to play musically!!!!

-Musical Styles including, funk, rock, jazz, afro-cuban, brazilian, fusion and pop/hip-hop

-advanced coordination, ostinato studies including left foot clave and solo drumset pieces

-Brush playing (yes this is still a thing!)

-Linear grooves, fills and solo concepts

-Polyrhythms (playing multiple rhythms/time-signatures as once) 

-Implied Time Metric Modulation and sub-dividing polyrythms

-Odd note groupings including Quintuplets and Septuplets

-Complex stickings used as grooves, fills/solo ideas

-Drumset facility - learning to play fluidly around the drums

-High level reading

I have taught everything from an absolute beginner to college music performance grads, international touring musicians and everything in between.  

​

Lessons are of course tailored to each student, but the basic foundations and building blocks are taught to everyone. 

​

Lessons are taught out of my home studio in Grimsby.
